was pretty muddy the day that I rode, but nobody was around. You have to cross the creek to get to the trail so if the water is high, you might get wet.
Ok. This is a great place for a day hike for a few hours, but lots of strikes against it.
Top on the list is crossing the creek. No one has built up an obvious hiker crossing. It’s extremely difficult to cross. No flat rocks or easy stepping stones.
Next is the parking area. Terribly marked. At least the pit toilet is clean.
Lastly is the views. Your end goal is a pond that’s not that inspired.
In the end, this was ranch land that’s now a public open space.
Small parking lot. Room for maybe 10 cars in the area they setup. Pit toilet was clean and had toilet paper when we were there. Can camp once 500′ from the parking lot. There is a nice big flat area just down the hill to camp in near Bear Creek. Was nice for a practice backpacking trip. Not a lot of foot traffic the last weekend in February.
Safe parking off highway with no services. Steep trails down to water. We have viewed bears in region in Spring and wildlife and birdwatching is excellent in Winter and Spring.
Not safe for small children, but beautiful if you can hike down the steep trail. Part of the trail requires you to cross the creek, bring waterproof shoes or expect to get wet feet
