This a great place for hiking. We took our dogs on some of the fire trails and they had a blast! The views were spectacular. If you decide to go on a hike, I recommend driving past the first parking area and look for the picnic area about a mile past. You’ll have access to the fire trails as well as smaller, more skilled trails. In warmer weather keep an eye out for snakes and keep your pups on a leash and dont forget to bring wayer for you and your hiking buddy. The nearest Vet is a bit of a drive. Enjoy.
Love horseback riding up here! Great sensitization for my horses to be around the helicopter. Trails grounds in great shape and mostly trimmed up but some areas need a bit of pruning at horse rider height
Great hiking and mountain biking area offering multi choices – easy to moderate. Dogs off leash. Fire roads and dirt paths. Areas with lots of trees, and then fire-cleared areas. Several tiny creeks after our big rain winter. Think it could be hot in summer but our April hike was perfect! Full T-Mobile coverage for us. Good flush toilet bathroom facilities; not clean but doable (with T-paper and soap). Gail’s trail head hard to spot. From parking area look just right of propane tank at ranger station. Trails mostly marked but our All Trails map was helpful.
Realistically a 4 but due to fire damage it will become a 5 in a few years. Little tree sapplings sprouting all over the place. It was once a gorgeous forrest that’s slowly coming back to life. You can feel the mountains energy when walking through the forrest. Look out for moon tears
