Honestly I used to love coming to Tallman regularly but ever since the new owners took over, they have taken the personal feel of the hotel and have changed it to a highly manufactured cooperation vibe. Plus you used to get complimentary breakfast with your room that had the most amazing scones. Now you have to pay for a, at best mediocre, breakfast. Will not be returning.
Beware, this hotel uses a scam 3rd party website for bookings and will not refund your money if for some reason you cancel before the cut off time. My 1 star is to warn people when booking this hotel, despite clicking on the hotel’s website booking “button” it shuffled me over to (what the hotel says was) Expedia. I did not book with Expedia, their website chose that option without my consent. The hotel website says you will be refunded if you cancel within a certain time frame, the 3rd party’s rules are completely the opposite —which you are not told when booking the room. Beware folks, do not reserve in advance, you will not be refunded if you can’t make it. My child became ill, I had to change plans however much I didn’t want to. Future guests be careful, something is not right with this hotel’s booking system.
Great little bed and breakfast. It is like many older bed-and-breakfast with a little older carpet and maybe furnishings than a newer Marriott, for example but it’s very appropriate for the building and they have a great restaurant essentially connected with outdoor seating in between, trees, and a nice area to sit
My wife often travels to the area for work and always raves about how well she is treated by the staff. I got the pleasure of joining her this time, and can confirm that staff take such good care of their guests.
We travel a lot and stay in lots of hotels. This gem is lovely, charming, and comfortable. It feels like a great bed and breakfast and you will certainly feel at home. The rooms are very clean and cozy, and each offers something unique (and practical).
This place is historical and VERY charming. You will not be disappointed when you stay here!
