These are the nicest most accommodating people you will ever meet. The missus is a bit slow and chatty with the paperwork, which I didn’t mind at all. Warning: You may go home with a kitten.
We took our 2021 Subaru Forester to Thomson’s Garage a month ago and could not have been happier. Tony saved us a lot of money and time by diagnosing the problem properly compared to the other garage where we had taken our car. The problem was a Check Engine light that came on unexpectedly. There is no question that the other garage was trying to take advantage of us by telling us that, because the Check Engine light was on, we needed a smog emission part when in actuality the problem was due to a software update from Subaru that had to be redone. Thanks to Tony who directed us properly, we took our car to the Subaru dealership where they relaunched the software update, and the Check Engine light was resolved, saving us hundreds of dollars. Tony, thank you again for your honesty and expertise!
Tony was very kind and helped me (disabled and retired) tow in my 2002 Dodge Durango. He diagnosed a head gasket repair. Once the car was repaired and completed, he included pictures and old parts as I requested. I’m am an ex mechanic and I saw he did a great job. He went over and above what was asked of him. He was very close to the estimate that he gave and time quoted.
He had also diaged the ac but he will get that job later.
I was going to avoid posting but I’m extremely dissapointed. Beware. I took my car to Thompson’s Garage on September 12th and was initially told that the parts needed for the repair would arrive within 48 hours. I learned on September 19th that the parts had supposedly been picked up by the mechanic’s spouse that day. We asked for updates multiple times. On 9/24 we were told we would receive an update on 09/25. No update came. I reached out again on the 26.
The repairs were supposed to address a blown head gasket, but they also mentioned that during test drive the charge pipe clamp had mysteriously fallen off the car. They had to repair that too and then also informed us that a spark plug and a coil went out and had to fix that as well. After 15 days in the shop, we finally got the car back on September 27th with a total bill of about $4,700. Unfortunately, just two days later, the car started leaking fluid again. To make matters worse, when my husband picked up the car, the mechanic who handed it over reeked of liquor, which raised serious concerns about the quality and safety of the work performed.
Overall, this experience was incredibly disappointing, and I would strongly advise others to steer clear of Thompson’s Garage. We will not be returning.
