Very busy summer weekends, only moderately so spring/fall weekdays. Never empty. But that shows how unique it is in this general area. Cache creek flow lessens in late summer but is always moving quickly and cool. It’s a common put in for rafting the next several miles, which flow through the mountains with no motorized access so it’s always quiet. No sandy beaches along the creek but still some nice spots to throw down a blanket. Well worth your time.

The Redbud trail loop is gorgeous with lots of cool views! Took us about an hour and a half. We hiked this on April 19th around noon and only saw 3 other groups.

It’s overgrown in a few sections but most of the trail is well kept. Like others have said, there’s very little signage on the trail so it would be hard to follow without downloading the Alltrails maps.

We did the loop, but the loop section wasn’t as pretty as the main trail. It’s a lot flatter so it’s nice if you’re short on time, but the out and back Redbud trail is prettier.

We love going to this location! Easy access off the highway, but there are some serious potholes to watch out for. The creek is accessible and the variety of rocks are intriguing. Skip loves to be able to run the trails when there isn’t other people and dogs near by, which is nearly every time we go. There have been a couple of times we left without getting out as some potentially dangerous people were there. Things didn’t look or feel right, but generally a wonderful park for flat or easy walking until you go further I to the red bud trail. I don’t know how or why it started, however there’s a fascinating rock stacking formation which is reminiscent of an old fashioned key hole. These pictures were taken about a year and a half ago. It’s been added to and is changing! However it is an interesting feature of the park.
