No wait to get in because there’s no going in. It’s only a small jail cell and nothing more but the story behind it is a good one and involves the great great uncles of two local brothers (also twins). Worth checking out.

Cool little structure soaked with historical energy. Interesting how crime has escalated, so much in this county . In fact they don’t arrest all of the seriously dangerous criminals, as there’s no room left. It’s a revolving door of recidivism. I reccomend visiting Lake County not living in it. It is iconic, photogenic & incredibly beautiful beyond compare, but a harsh place to survive & live.

FIRST JAIL IN LAKE COUNTY / & THE SMALLEST JAIL I’VE EVER SEEN…RIGHT ON MAIN STREET / DON’T BLINK…TRIVIA: I LIKE THE STORY OF THE FIRST PARTICIPANT THAT GOT LOCKED UP…HE WAS ONE OF TWO GENTLEMEN THAT BUILT THE JAIL…I GUESS HE CELEBRATED A LITTLE TO MUCH OF / THE COMPLETION…MORE TRIVIA: HE BROKE OUT OF THE JAIL DURING THE NIGHT…

Cool little old jail to take a look at. It’s just by the street. No need to pay and also no service on site. As far as I could see, there is no way to go inside. I read somewhere this is the smallest jail in the US.
