Did the Judge Davis Trail on 3/7/26 – Nice views of rolling hills and the valley below. observed a pond along the way toward Cache Creek. There were some overgrown parts, but not too bad. 2 miles in, there is some loose gravel when you’re walking along the ledge of a cliff, which you should be careful of on the way back. Most of the trail is exposed to the sun. Some of the hills have a path you can walk along if you want to make it easier on yourself. Got one or two very rutted areas that go up and down, but have bypasses that you can take that are less up and down.

Great and challenging walk! Beautiful vistas. Numerous valleys as you walk along the trail. Be sure to take water and possibly something to eat. Especially in the summer.

The Judge Davis trail is California beautiful, affording both the serene oak covered trails and flowered meadows, as well as the more dramatic and majestic views out across the Berryessa and Clear Lake mountain ranges. This trail changes remarkably with time of year. I’ve added a few pictures of late-April after a wet winter. The sumptuous purple flowers and electric new growth green of grasses and oak leaves are a delight. Later in the summer the trail will be transformed to California golden and dark dusty oak greens. I don’t give it full stars because there is little water – but you can find that at the lakes or creeks nearby.
