We used Burke’s for a river float and camping in Aug 2026 and had an amazing time. We originally had other plans and it was for my 30th birthday, but those were changed due to fires, and Burke’s welcomed 15+ of us with open arms and truly saved the day. Every staff member was extremely thoughtful, accomodating, and kind.
The river float itself is a classic. We’ve done it before and it’s always a great time. We all did single or double kayaks and they were very stable and offered enough space to store some items in dry bags and small coolers. It is definitely a good stretch of distance to go from Burke’s to almost Johnsons Beach, so make sure you start early and have your arms ready for some paddling! It’s also such a treat to have them take care of the shuttling and kayaking lugging instead of having to coordinate it all yourself.
The campsite was also awesome. We didn’t know these existed before, but they have multiple group campsites that range from under the redwood trees to really close to the beach. They keep it very well maintained with free hot showers and plenty of space for everyone.
My family and I had a great time floating down the Russian River. Burke’s made it an awesome experience. Great service! Friendly Staff! We took our time and made the whole day of it. 6 hours fun and relaxation! Definitely would like to go there again! Thanks Burke’s!
Go at your own pace and soak up the Sun! We set off at 10am, grabbed a sandwich and snacks at the grocery/deli across the street, and floated on kayaks to the take out pulling up at 4:45, with lots of stops for swimming, eating, and relaxing. The day ended with Ice cream from Angelas (I think) Organic Ice Cream also across the street and sooo good. What wonderful memories!
$95 for a canoe for 2 adults which took us ~5 hours down the river with many places to stop and swim! So nice that they don’t make you carry or load the canoes to get back and just bus you back to your car.
Bring something soft to sit on though cause my ass is killing me sitting on the metal for hours lol
Great place to rent canoes and kayaks to travel down the Russian river. They have bathrooms at the starting point – highly recommend using them before embarking on your voyage. They also have life vests (required for renting their boats). Took us about five hours to meander the 10 miles by canoe – including an hour stop for lunch. We took our time, had a total blast, navigated some easy waters as well as some more challenging runs. Pick up at the end was pretty easy, including the shuttle back (20 minutes).
