How To Post an Ad
Posting an ad is easy, simply follow the directions below.
Click on “Post an ad” near the top of the screen.
If you haven’t already signed in enter your email address and password in the “Sign In to lakeslist.com” area.
Select the one best Category for your ad.
Enter the Ad information as indicated and click “Next Page”.
Upload pictures if you have any and click “Next Page”.
Enter contact information. Please note that your email address will not be displayed in your ad, all messages will be forwarded to you through our system. Your street address will also not be listed in the ad, UNLESS you are posting in the Homes section. Please make sure to enter your phone number in the requested format as follows. 000-000-0000. A valid phone number is required. Click “Next Page”.
Here you will see our “Terms of Use”. Please review them and then click “Next Page”.
You’re done. Your ad has been submitted, and should be online in a few moments. Simply click on “Continue to My Ads” to view your ad.
How do I edit my ad?
You can edit your ad by logging in to your account and going to the ”Dashboard” page. From there, select which ad you want to change and click “Edit”. Similar to the ad posting process, the editing page will allow you to change anything on your ad including the category, location, title, description, and your contact information.
How to post or resize photos for your ad:
1. Simply click on the browse button in the ad creation form.
2. Locate the picture you wish to upload on your computer.
3. The pictures will begin uploading once you click “Next Page”. How long this takes depends on how many pictures you are uploading, the file size of the pictures, and your upload speed.
Please Note: Even high speed connections may have low upload speeds.
If the ad has already been submitted:
1. Click on “My ads”, then click “edit” next to the ad in question.
2. Then simply click on the browse button.
3. Locate the picture you wish to upload on your computer.
4. The pictures will begin uploading once you click “Next Page”. How long this takes depends on how many pictures you are uploading, the file size of the pictures, and your upload speed. Please remember to click next page until you reach the end of the edit process or your changes will not be saved.

How to Resize Your Images
Finally If you are having trouble with the picture upload try resizing your image before uploading it. This will dramatically reduce the size of the image file and the upload time. One option to do this is Picasa from Google. To download Picasa click HERE. Once you have downloaded and installed Picasa simply follow the steps below to resize the picture.
1. Open Picasa and locate the picture to be resized
2. With the picture selected click on “File” and then “Export picture to folder” (this will create another copy of your picture with a smaller size, so the original remains unchanged)
3. Select the folder you would like to export too
4. Enter 640 into the “Resize to” field and click “OK”. This will resize your image to roughly 640×480.
5. You’re done, the new resized photo is now in a folder at the location you selected and is ready to be posted
How to Delete, Modify or Mark Your Ad as SOLD
• Click on “My Ads”
• If you haven’t already done so enter your email address and password in the “Sign In to lakeslist.com” area .
• Locate the ad you would like to remove.
• You now have three options as follow.
1. Edit the ad. This will take you though the same steps you took when creating the ad. Please remember to click next page until you reach the end of the edit process. If you do not your changes will not be saved.
2. Mark the ad as sold. The “Sold” or “For Sale” buttons indicate what action will be taken if you click on them. For instance an ad in your “My Ads” section that includes a “Sold” button next to it is currently marked for sale and clicking on the button will mark the ad as sold. This will place a red sold stamp on your primary image. You should select this option if your item has sold. This helps people to know that the item is no longer available without needing to ask you to find out. It also lets people know how effective Lake’s List Classifieds can be.
3. Delete the ad. You should select this option if you want the ad gone immediately.
